There are many thousands of different varieties of plums throughout the world that differ in shape size colour and taste. Another member of the rose family it originates from Asia where it grew wild some 2000 years ago. They can be eaten raw, stewed baked or poached, make excellent jams and also go well with many savoury dishes. They are a good source of fibre and contain more antioxidant that any other fruit.
