Peppers were discovered by Christopher Columbus when he was in fact looking for the spices that had been found by Marco Polo in the Far East. As Columbus was in the Americas he was slightly off course! Peppers are members of the capsicum family and come in a variety of colours and are a very popular Mediterranean dish. They are versatile in that they can be eaten raw in salads, grilled, stir fried or roasted. They are beneficial for the heart and circulation.
