Sometimes known as the “queen of fruits” peaches have been growing in China since the 5th century BC and are regarded as a symbol of longevity and immortality. They became very popular in Europe and were introduced to America by Christopher Columbus, they are grown so intensely in Georgia that it has become known as the Peach State. High in Vitamins A, B and C they are also a good source of copper, phosphorus and potassium. They are particularly good as a diuretic. Delicious eaten raw, or combined with other fruits in salads. They can be used in many ways and are an excellent partner to gammon and duck.
